The Action I/O System 2500 (AIOS 2500) is a controller independent, distributed I/O solution with modular construction for maximum flexibility. Its powerful on-board intelligence makes it well suited to SCADA and stand-alone control applications. The quick release plug in I/O modules are fully isolated (input to power, output to power and channel to channel) for high system reliability. There are three sizes of passive back plane chassis available for the 2500. They accept 4, 8 or 16 I/O modules in any combination and can be panel or DIN rail mounted. Up to 16 bases can be daisy chained with up to 32 analog, 128 digital inputs or 64 digital outputs per base or combinations.

The AIOS is also a full featured, two loop PID controller (four and eight loop models also available). Each loop may be configured as single loop, dual loop ratio, dual loop cascade or single loop with override. An auto tune function is provided to maximize the effectiveness of the control.

A wide variety of analog input types are accepted by the universal two channel analog input module (AI2) including: RTDs, thermocouples (J, K, L, R, B, N, T, S, C and Platinell 2), Pyrometers, mV, V, mA, high impedance voltage inputs (e.g. Zirconia probe), high and low resistance inputs and potentiometer inputs. Custom curves and or square root functions can be configured for each input channel. A three channel current input module (AI3) is also available, complete with individually isolated 24V excitation to power 4-20mA loops. The two-channel analog output module (AO2) will produce signals up to 0-10V or 0(4)-20mA.

Digital inputs are accepted through either the 4 or 8 channel digital input modules (DI4, DI8) and they can be configured for on/off, relay (de-bounce) or pulse inputs. Four channel digital output modules are available for 24V dc switched, self-powered and externally powered discrete logic level applications. A four channel relay output module is also available. Each discrete or relay output can be configured for on/off, time proportioning or valve raise/lower applications.

All modules mount on keyed terminal boards that snap into place on the 2500's chassis. There are 9 available terminal boards: 4 for analog inputs (thermocouple, RTD/Vdc, mA and mA with excitation), 2 for discrete outputs (logic or relay) and one each for digital inputs, analog outputs and the Control Module.
